Launching of the Philippine Folk Dances Instructional Videos based on Francisca Reyes-Aquino's Notations

The UP CHK Department of Physical Education launched its “Instructional Video Production of Philippine Folk Dances based on Francisca Reyes-Aquino’s Notations” project on February 8, 2024, at the UP Diliman Varsity Training Center. The project aimed to create digital resources that contain instructional videos that can be easily distributed and accessed through various online platforms. This ensures that the instructional videos have a broader reach and can be available to a larger audience. The primary purpose of this project is to preserve and promote Philippine folk dances through multimedia resources, which students, choreographers, and dance enthusiasts can access. The project also aims to honor the legacy of Francisca Reyes-Aquino, an esteemed UP Alumna, by upholding her invaluable contributions to the field of dance. The project team comprised the Department Chair, Assoc. Prof. Lalaine Rosenda J. Pereña, together with Asst. Prof. Zyra Ruth T. Brebante, Dr. Alberto Dimarucut, and the UP Filipiniana Dance Group, headed by the artistic director Peter Alcedo Jr., received funding support from the Office of the Chancellor through the OVCRD Outright Research Grant.
