What this page is for
A quick guide for CHK faculty and staff to get research/creative work proposals endorsed by CHK and submitted to UPD OVCRD via the USAP portal.
Who can apply
UP Diliman personnel (faculty and staff). Students can join teams as RAs or collaborators; check specific grant rules. See UPD funding overview for eligibility notes and grant types.
What you can apply for (common OVCRD programs)
Outright Research Grant – supports new/continuing research/creative work up to ₱500,000 for one year.
Open Grant – interdisciplinary/cross-disciplinary projects with no fixed budget ceiling; amount depends on the scope.
Source of Solutions (SOS) – solutions for urgent UPD problems up to ₱500,000 total for 5–12 months.
Thesis & Dissertation Grants – to support completion of graduate work up to ₱60,000 (Master’s) and ₱100,000 (Doctoral).
UPD Extension Grant – for extension projects (up to ₱150,000 per application, for a maximum of one year) with little/no other funding.
For the full list and the latest guidelines, see UPD Funding and OVCRD Research Management Office (RMO).
How to submit (The 3-step CHK → OVCRD submission flow)
Plan & prepare
Choose the right grant above and draft your proposal.
If your study involves people, secure ethics clearance from the UP CHK Research Ethics Committee (UPCHKREC). See “How to Apply” and forms on the REC page.
College review & endorsement (CHK Research Committee)
Submit your full package to OADRE at assocdeanchk.upd@up.edu.ph for technical review by the CHK Research Committee.
OVCRD decisions are based on the recommendation of the College-based Proposal Review Committee, so CHK endorsement is required before/with portal submission.
Submit to OVCRD (USAP Portal)
Sign in with Google on the USAP portal, create a ticket (select RMO → Internal Grant Application → Open/Outright/SOS/etc.), upload your endorsed documents, and track status there. OVCRD handles processing after submission.
What to prepare (quick checklist)
Proposal narrative & workplan (with Gantt/timeline)
Line-item budget & justification
CVs of proponent(s) and key staff
Ethics documents (if applicable)
Any grant-specific forms/templates from OVCRD RMO (Open/Outright/SOS/etc.)
Typical timelines
Internal CHK Research Committee review/endorsement precedes portal submission; OVCRD runs calls and deadlines per grant. Always check current calls/deadlines on UPD Funding or Projects@OVCRD.
After you submit
Watch for OVCRD communications via the portal or email. If your project involves human participants, keep REC compliance active through the project. (See CHK REC page for forms and contacts.)
