MILO® Bolsters Support for the Future of Sports at UP College of Human Kinetics’ First-Ever Sports Science Research Gab

MANILA, Philippines, November 2024 – In its efforts to champion sports as a vital link to success, MILO® Philippines served as a partner at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (CHK)’s inaugural academic research forum. Held at the UP School of Statistics Auditorium, the forum spotlighted research that aims to serve as yet another stepping stone to fuel next-generation champions through sport – an advocacy shared by MILO®.

The conference, themed From Fields to Findings, featured a total of 18 researchers, who tackled diverse studies, trends, and issues in Sports Science and Physical Education. These topics ranged from Sports and Exercise Performance, Sports Management, Physical Activity & Health Promotion, and Physical Education Pedagogy, all of which were presented to an estimated 300 conference participants.

Such comes as the latest effort of UP CHK’s Department of Sports Science to represent collaborative efforts to continue championing innovation and partnerships that are expected to drive the next generation of champions to success.

The event’s keynote speech was delivered by former UP Diliman Chancellor Dr. Fidel Nemenzo, whereas UP CHK dean, Assoc. Prof. Francis Diaz gave the welcoming remarks, sharing, “The CHK Research Forum is not just about presenting research; it’s about building a foundation of knowledge that empowers future athletes, coaches, and educators to excel.”

Close to 200 UP Diliman students were present at the forum, as well as over 80 guests from other academic institutions including the Far Eastern University (FEU) campuses of Manila and Cavite, Miriam College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

At the end of the conference, the research titled “Profiling of Physical Activity Usage in Selected Urban Green Spaces” by Trizsa Jasmin C. Ty, and the study “Relationship Between Occupational Physical Activity and Cardiometabolic Health in Female Office Workers” by Trisha Maeve B. Mendiola was hailed as the best research presentations for the undergraduate and graduate categories, respectively, for its efforts in linking sports to success.

The CHK Research Forum was presented in cooperation with Robinsons Supermarket and supported by Activelink Benefits Made Better, BTL Medical Technologies, Inc., MILO®, and Gatorade.
