[Diliman, Quezon City, 07 October 2024] – The University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics held an inaugural academic research forum on August 27 at the School of Statistics Auditorium. The conference featured diverse research in Sports Science and Physical Education that covered current trends and issues in Sports and Exercise Performance, Sports Management, Physical Activity & Health Promotion, and Physical Education Pedagogy. A total of 18 researchers comprised of CHK faculty members, guest academician, and graduate students of the college presented their study findings to an estimated 300 conference participants.
The CHK research conference, dubbed “From Field to Findings”, organized by the Department of Sports Science of the CHK, kicked off with a welcome remark by Assoc. Prof. Francis Diaz, dean of the college, and a keynote address by former UP Diliman Chancellor Dr. Fidel Nemenzo. Close to 200 UP Diliman students and over 80 guests from other academic institutions took part in the for um with delegations from even as far as Tagaytay, Cavite, and Isabela. Guang Ming College and Isabela State University had the most number of registered participants. Other institutions represented were Far Eastern University Manila and Cavite, Miriam College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and University of Santo Tomas. At the closeout of the conference, the research of “Profiling of Physical Activity Usage in Selected Urban Green Spaces”, and the study “Relationship Between Occupational Physical Activity and Cardiometabolic Health in Female Office Workers” of Trisha Maeve B. Mendiola were hailed as best research presentations for the undergraduate and graduate categories, respectively. The CHK Research Forum was presented in cooperation with Robinsons Supermarket and supported by Activelink Benefits Made Better, BTL Medical Technologies, Inc., Milo, and Gatorade.
