Lalaine Rosenda Juarez Pereña is an Associate Professor and currently carrying out her duties as Chairperson, Academic Personnel Committee (APC) Member and Executive Board Committee Member of the Department of Physical Education at the College of Human Kinetics, University of the Philippines, Diliman. Her journey in the world of dance commenced with a foundation as a dance major graduate from the Philippine High School for the Arts, National Arts Center. Building upon this solid groundwork, she pursued her passion at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she obtained degrees in Certificate in Dance, Bachelor in Physical Education major in Dance, and Masters in Science and Physical Education major in Dance, from the prestigious College of Human Kinetics. She was a former member of the UP Filipiniana Dance Group (1984-1991) and still with the UP Filipiniana Alumni Dance Group since 1992, as trainer/member and has performed locally in the different parts of the country and represented the Philippines in the international folk dance festivals in Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe. Her leadership as the former Head Coach of the University of the Philippines Varsity Pep Squad from May 1998 to July 2022 resulted in a tally of 8 championships and 10 podium finishes for UP in the fiercely contested UAAP Cheerdance Competition. Additionally, her adept guidance as one of the Head Coaches of the UP Ballroom Formation Team has led to the acquisition of 6 champion trophies in the UAAP Ballroom Formation Dance Competition since 2016. She is also an accredited coach for cheerleading & cheerdance by the Cheerleading Federation of the Philippines and Head Coach of the national team for cheerleading that won podium finishes for our country in the Cheerleading World Championships held in Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and Germany. Her dedication to pursue excellence in physical education, dance and athletic coaching brought about contributions to academia, cultural preservation and athletic achievement to the university and beyond.
As her expertise is focused on the dance field, Assoc. Prof. Pereña handles mostly dance courses offered by CHK. Furthermore, she serves as a mentor for student teachers taking their practicum in practice teaching and for both undergraduate and graduate thesis advisees.

She has recently participated in research project grants of CHK Department of Physical Education, namely Common Injuries of Filipino High School Cheerleaders (2020) and the Challenge with Online P.E. during the Covid-19 Pandemic: Views from the Philippines (2023). Additionally, she led the launching of the Instructional Video Production of Philippine Folk Dances based on Francisca Reyes Aquino's Notations (2024).
